Some people don’t want children. They want self-portraits.
Being a pacifist does not mean you can´t be a jerk, too.
I see this as the parental equivalent of drunk-dialing your ex-girlfriend at 3AM and bitching her out because she really hurt you and ruined your life. But, of course, “if you ever want to get back together just call me, OK?”
Oh, I didn’t expect that… she was rude…
As the others have commented, that’s not the behavior of a pacifist, they are suppossed to promote dialogue first.
Julie’s mother must hate living among non-pacifists who condone killing invading armies in self defense since she’s so indignant over the idea of destroying world-ending WMDs.
Naw, see, she’s really just in on the whole thing and is trying to provide Julie with an appropriately depressing back-story so she has enough angst to perform occasional (but necessary!) dramatic monologues as she stops the Yontengu.
Don’t be haters! 😉
Perhaps they have more in common than meets the eye. I sense a lot of surpressed anger here.
