TODAY’S BLOG BY DON AHÉ:
This page was significant to me when drawing in a different way then the rest. Here, after much setting up of the story and characters, the audience was finally gonna get a hint of the journey which Koen and Julie were gonna undertake.
I am also glad to see Anna Galactic launched, I love Christopher’s art, and his work inspires me to keep pushing forward and to better myself. Other artists that have helped inspire me as I draw these pages are Paul Pope, Jake Wyatt, Jeff Smith, and George Herriman.
And now the adventure really kicks in! Can’t wait. Loving it.
Woow, as SKJAM! said at the previous page, it seems they have found a Yontengu…
Nope. Not a Yontengu. That’s Gorro’s house, seen here: http://www.baldwinpage.com/yontengu/2014/11/11/111114-prologue-09/
Oh yes, you’re right!
Well, it is an interesting discovery anyway…
You know what I think they’ll find in there? Gorro’s suit.
I suspect Gorro’s ability to fly wasn’t a natural trait of his species. All others of his kind that we’ve seen were on the ground or riding ground vehicles. Moreover, their architecture doesn’t fit. Headland’s Point/Siplonia is in the mountains. A flying species could have built something truly breathtaking there, but they went with a very…pedestrian layout.
Which makes me suspect that Gorro’s flashy suit is where his flight ability comes from. It’s part of the “weapons” he’s concerned with in his very last appearance, and probably more relevant to Julie than those Yongengu-killing stickybombs…
Yep, I figured that Gorro’s weapons, etc. would be the Artifacts referred to by the chapter title.
Also, Don, now that you mention them, I can see bits of influences from Pope, Smith, and Herriman in your art. Paul Pope is one of my faves, BTW.
@Sean K , actually, i just discoved Popes work 2 years ago, and Wyatts about 4 months ago, when i find it difficult to draw or uninspired l rummage around and flip through one of the forementioned authors.
