Give her a self-esteem trophy.
Ah ah, slippery slope Chris, first you’re marrying Christmas then you’re marrying regular days. What am I gonna tell my kid when he asked why Wednesday and Friday are always holding hands? HUH?!
Stopping a bully is equivalent to destroying a planet?
Given how much trouble war and violence caused both races in the backstory, I can see how extreme non-violent teachings would become popular. But this seems a little crazy.
I can understand not wanting to intervene in the war, especially if it isn’t clear who started what. Even if you know who is in the right (and the story implies that both sides are in the wrong), the risk of intervention might be too great. Especially for what is essentially a small farming community.
Not wanting to interfere with the bullying is a lot harder to understand. The bully started it. He’s in the wrong. Make him stop. It’s not like the problem is just going to go away on its own.
Well, if you don’t want Julie or someone else to fight, do something about bullying! Starting with acceppting it does exists.
Are you so afraid that you believe any fight leads automatically to war? so you tolerate abuse?
No my friends is just the opposite: you let the bullies go, they will be the ones making wars tomorrow. That’s what I think.
Oh, I was so into the subject that I forgot to say: thank you Chris, and Merry Chrismas to you and Don too.
The thing I see missing from this conversation is: they are NOT saying let the boys go unpunished. They are NOT saying to merely accept bullying. They’re saying deal with it peaceably, through the proper channels, rather than starting by punching in the nose. Negotiate first.
Anyhow, I’m glad the topic has so many of you jazzed up about it! 🙂
Unfortunately, Pacifism only works when the other person does NOT want to kill you or take advantage of you.
Ok Chris, I’m glad to read that, and that’s kind of what I said in one of the previous pages: If Julie didn’t go to the “proper channel” yes, their parents and teachers are right in scolding her…
But based on what I have read until now, it seems that Julie has already gone through those channels but the bullies haven’t been punished.
Anyway, I’ll wait for the next pages to know what happened or how it goes from here…
Thank you!
