   Oh, I just read the explanations of the previous page, they bring some light on the matter, but I keep thinking on recklessness…

   Completely baseless theory time:

   I’m guessing we’re seeing a really distant prologue. The reason all the lifeforms look so alien is that they belong to phyla that went extinct entirely. The main story will be set hundreds of millions of years later, after aquatic life reclaims the land again…
