There is definitely a gap of spirit between wanting to heal the galaxy and actually engaging in public policy.

Gerek asked Lasper, “How much extra will all this cost? I have somewhat limited funds.” Lasper reassured him, “Save it in case it’s needed later.” Lasper then stood up and said, “Anyhow, I should go back to the bridge. I need to think about the problem of Yakky hating you, Gerek. It does create tension on the ship.” Audri said, “thank you, Lasper. But why are you being so kind to us?” Lasper shrugged and said, “curiosity and heart I guess. And as Val said, humans are just as brutal as everyone in space, but no doubt, just like in space, there are exceptions on earth too.” Lasper then spread his arms and grinned kindly and said, “Besides, so much of changing a system is working from within: attending protracted policy meetings, poring through paperwork and treaties, hobnobbing with diplomats. Knowing someday I’ll see Gerek doing all this, makes it all feel worth it.” Gerek, not liking the sound of any of that, said, “I think i’d rather give you all my money.”

Gerek’s too good of a person to be a politician. Take the money, Lasper.
Be careful what you ask for, you might have to get it.
What’s in Lasper’s palm? Is that a DBZ android power sucking device?
He’s got them in both palms. I think he’s wearing gloves or gauntlets, so probably some kind of device.
I went back and checked, https://www.baldwinpage.com/spacetrawler/2025/01/27/012725-the-blood-going/ has a shot of both hands at once.
I’d rather give up all my money as well…..
Ah, the hard and unending struggle for peace and harmony among peoples! It can give you a new understanding of why wars happen.
