I’ve been designing/building Lasper’s ship over the last week. Fun! With each new ship I build, I learn better what “sets” (in the theater sense of the word) work best for action and background for the comic. Not that this knowledge always pays off, but I’d say it’s been a steady slow upward trend. (although, Lasper’s ship won’t be fully shown for about 5 weeks, but I wanted the undercarriage done for this shot, which meant I wanted to know pretty well what the undercarriage was supporting).

Needing to know which ship would be leaving immediately, Gerek asked the Portmaster, “Which one?!” The Portmaster said, “Try up the second row there, bay 721B. If anyone has a bleeding heart, it’s Lasper.” Gerek and Audri ran and Val rollerskated towards the ship, outside of which Lasper was stretching his back out with a “crick” before going on board. Running up, Gerek said, “Wait! Excuse me! We were told you could give us a cheap ride off-planet.” Audri said, “I didn’t hear the Portmaster say it’d be cheap.” Gerek said, “We two travel with an idiot, but she’s no trouble.” Audri said, “At least I’m an idiot whose ears work.”

“She?”
“They insist that’s their pronoun. Now they’ve got me saying it. Idiot.”
Ah, a kindred soul. My wife insists I’m an idiot, but I’m smart enough not to argue. She’s a darned good cook!
I have evidence that I’m smarter than my wife: I married her and she married me.
I married the smartest woman at college who was dumb enough to date me.
Are you sure you weren’t meant to be a space architect, Chris?
I hope this one isn’t gonna land on my house again…. 🙂
Doesn’t get bartering yet, does she?
Is that a refurbished space trawler parked in the distance?
“This is The Way.”
Chris, rest assured, you actually are a darned good spaceship designer. 🙂
I married a woman who is much smarter than me. She told me so.
This makes me think of “Firefly”, 1st episode. Thank you!
