11/08/24 – Sticking By Gerek

|

Gerek turned to Val and Audri and said, "listen, when we land, we should split up. It's dangerous being pursued by a ship of Bollycks, regardless their intentions." Deflated Gerek sat down and put his head in his hands and said, "and every person on planet Gorend will be wanting to kill me. Either because they'll think they need to protect themselves, or for revenge because someone they cared about was killed by Bollycks." Getting down off her chair, Val said, "you saved us, Gerek. We're going to stick by you." Audri, a little less sure, said, "I don't know, Val. Maybe we should listen to him. I like Gerek too. But if he's right, it sounds really dangerous and we have zero 'battle-or-whatever' skills as well as almost no knowledge of alien ways." Gerek backs Audri up by saying, "It is kind of you, Val. But listen to Audri. You two should leave me. The Bollyck history is bigger than the both of you, and isn't your problem." Upset, Val yelled, "in what world is your problem not my problem? Helping friends is normal. Have neither of you ever had a friend before?" Gerek said, "honestly, not many." Audri said, "most of mine are on the spectrum, so 'normal' behavior can be a bit foreign to me."

It’s always good to know what friends are for. 🙂

Maybe the swimming pool guy had a good heart, too. Although he did seem a little bit sleazy, he’s the only alien they’ve met that hasn’t tried to kill, capture, or abuse them. It’s a low bar, you’d think it’d be cleared by more people.

Gerek is forgetting the third, obvious reason why people would be hostile… Bollycks being laser proof quite possibly means that Bollyck-hide armor would be good stuff… And if they’re truly valued less than animals, then nobody’s going to complain about harvesting them whenever possible. They might draw the line at Bollycks becoming the next Furryites though…
