I’m glad I’m home with fresh apple cake rather than on that escape pod.

Val, Audri and Gerek continued talking in the escape pod. Val said, “that’s so sad.” Audri said, “thank you for sharing that, Gerek. I believe you.” Val added, “we believe you.” Gerek said, “thank you. and I’m not one who likes to complain. It’s just how things turned out. What I was born into, and how the dice rolled.” Val said, “our dice rolled poorly too. We’re actually humans. From earth. But it seems a scientific experiment transferred our consciousness into these Tithoron bodies, and so now we’re… nothing but lost and confused.” Gerek went silent with skepticism, and then said, “sigh. That’s crazy-talk. Listen, you don’t have to act insane for me to pity you, because I already do. I’m just sad because I thought this was an honest sharing moment between us, and you just killed it.” Annoyed, Val said, “funny, I was just thinking the same thing.”

Credulity is such an awful master, isn’t it?
I am going to look up a recipe for apple cake, because I don’t want to be trapped in an escape pod, either. That’s probably not how causality works, but why take chances?
Ask if the species are known as bell ringers of Earth music. If not a demo might help their case.
Come to think of it, Tiths do look a bit hunched.
