As you may recall, Audri likes having a plan.

Gerek went over to the window looking back into the Bollyck ship and said, “anyhow, we’ll have to wait for Bautle and Terk, the two Bollycks just outside, to clear out before we launch.” Waiting and looking through the window, Gerek said, “okay they’re gone.” Gerek hit the “launch” button and said, “since I didn’t have a specific time-to-leave in mind, and was just waiting for when it felt right, our plan is simply to figure it out as we go along. Starting with getting to the nearest planet.” Val asked him, “so, what I’ve gleaned in the last ten minutes is that your species is bloodthirsty and feared. Am I correct?” As he sat down, Gerek said, “well, yeah.” Val continued, “and now we’re trapped in a tin can with one of them, hurtling through space. And all you have to say for all this is that we should trust you.” Gerek said, “yes.” A little miffed, Val said, “no sir, I don’t like it.” Audri yelled at them both, “and now I’m up against two of you yahoos! Just so you know, ‘making it up as one goes along’ isn’t a plan!”

Hey! Humans are bloodthirsty and feared! (at least by all critters on Earth) So Val had better re-think that statemenr! 🙂
So, guesses whether the next planet is GOB or whatever, it’d be fun to have them meet Yuri.
I wonder if “the nearest planet” is the one they just escaped from
Well, as we know, “making it up as I go along” worked for Indiana Jones, at least in the first movie.
And you can argue it worked for David Lynch every week on “Twin Peaks,” the national standard for groping for meaning and narrative in the bleakness.
But there’s always that chance, swinging through the trees, that that next vine just won’t be where you can grab it. You might not have anything to make up on the way down. Cowabunga, Sherlock.
Yet we’re all still surviving by doing it constantly.
Oooh, I get it. I remember that the centaur-person planet was the closest habitable planet to Earth, so, if my logic is sound, then they’re gonna land right back on Earth just as group 2 is leaving. Ouch.
@Netino, that’s a great idea. I kinda wish I’d thought of it (I didn’t). :-/
No worries. That’s what fanfiction is for, after all ;D
Given that their current alternative is being stuck in a slightly bigger tin can with a large number of Bollycks that definitely don’t have a problem with putting them through various wringers, i fail to see the problems here.
Plans are for when you have nothing better to do than come up with unrealistic chains of events that you’d like to happen anyway. If you can’t come up with stuff on the fly, they’re just going to fall apart at the first obstacle anyway.
Wait, there’s no “Next” link. There’s no “Next” link! That must mean… I’ve finally caught up!
@John, yay! I mean I’m sorry! I mean, yay! 🙂
The better question is what kind of reception our friendly Bollyck is expecting to get when landing on an inhabited planet… I’m guessing “shoot first, and skip the questions.” would be pretty common given the species’ reputation…
