As Rodrigo, Thoos, Jo, Picknar, and Knox with Purrloin in his arms ran away from Craig and his friends in their trucks, Jo took a final swig from her bottle of win. Thoos asked, “why are they chasing us?!” Knox replied, “because you told Craig you were aliens! He thinks you’re from Mexico and are here illegally!” Taking a left turn, Rodrigo said, “come! This way!” Thoos asked, “so, he really really cares about the law? He sounds like a pretty upright moral person.” Knox, waving his hand in a so-so motion, said, “mehhh… I see where you’re going with that, but it’s… complicated. Starting with the fact that he’s inherently a jackass.” Craig started speaking into a microphone of his truck, which was amplified through a speaker on the outside of his truck, “why are you running, Knoxy? Do you and your friends have something to hide? Come on. Just stop and show us some valid I.D. and we’ll let you go.” Distressed, Picknar said, “gah! We left our I.D.s back at the house!” This added, “and if we go back, we’ll miss our ride! Earth is an utter nightmare!” Rodrigo said, “that’s fair. If you’re civilized enough to be flying among the stars, I imagine this kind of thing never happens.” Looking a little sheepish, Thoos said, “well… okay. That’s not true. But still, this totally sucks.”

Obviously the translator malfunctioned when it produced “upright” instead of “uptight”.

I’ve watched decades of science-fiction shows that prove interstellar civilization is perfectly capable of producing ridiculous situations and confrontations with arseholes.
