09/02/24 – Zack’s Fantasies

Rodrigo and Knox's bearded friend Zack was also at their house. Knox said, "Zack, this is Picknar and Thoos." Knox then pointed at Jo and added, "I don't know who the third one is." Jo said, "I'm Jo." Picknar said, "hello, Zack." Zack awkwardly said, "oh. Hello." Picknar said, "so, I know we look like human women, but were not." Jo exclaimed, "don't listen to her. We certainly are!" Picknar said, "we're aliens feeling very awkward in these human bodies and really just want to solve some science problems, and we really need your help to build a communicator." Touching his beard excitedly, Zack said, "I... that's like all my fantasies rolled up together in one sushi roll." Knox said disapprovingly, "don't get weird about this, Zack." With a big smily, Rodrigo said, "I'm loving him getting weird about this." Knox said to Rodrigo, "come on, Rigo, even if these ladies are nuts, it's not right to make them feel uncomfortable." Thoos said, "I think a cop tried to offer mating rituals to me on my drive home. Mostly I found it tedious." Deflated, Knox said, "okay, maybe it's all about me. I don't want to feel uncomfortable." Thoos said, "earlier you told me what donuts were, but what are eclairs? He said the two went really well together."

Sometimes I wonder when people want to censor others, who they are in fact trying to protect.

Until it’s demonstrated, you may not believe how closely related are the urge to protect someone else, and the urge to control them so they don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. This goes a long way to explain both anti-abortion and anti-IVF politics. To name but two.

I bet they end up failing succesfully by making a device that can only communicate at low range, which ends with them calling Martina’s father. Who picks up the phone, but is utterly, totally and impressively useless at understanding the situation or improving it in any way.

Some incredibly obscure bit of knowledge about a background noise or something allows them to trace his position, and after a quick plane ride with many TSA shenanigans they steal his working communicator, only to find out he drained the battery that should have had a near infinite life because he used it to play a shitty mobile game 24/7.
