Surely Runk can’t be THAT bad.

Val and Audri approached the ship with a signboard in front reading “Hiring. New Recruits! Great Benefits!” The approached the chief officer and Val said, “hello. we’re looking for work.” Audri said, “my name is Audri, and this is Val. And we’re also hoping to get dropped off on Earth. Like, soon.” The chief officer said, “yes-yes. Fine. I’m the chief officer. What experience do you have? Are you familiar with a f-371?” Audri smiled and said, “we’ve never been on a spaceship before.” Val said, “the actors on the sci-fi channel never seem particularly clever, how hard can it be?” The chief officer gestured over the bosun and said, “bosun, come over here. Take these two to the mess hall. You can instruct them in their duties after launch.” The bosun looked at Val and Audri and said, “what will be their duties, sir?” The chief officer said, “since they’re new recruits, Runk will want them on the bridge.” Looking alarmed, the bosun said, “have you warned them?” Miffed, the cheif officer said, “Runk has made it policy to not warn new recruits about his treatment of crew.” Thinking about that, the bosun said, “I suppose I wouldn’t have believed the stories until I’d experienced them anyway.”

How do they plan to get back into their old bodies once they get to Earth? Seems like they haven’t thought this through…

It rang a bell for me as well, but that might be just neurons firing incorrectly. Couldn’t find a “Runk” associated with Spacetrawler via The Googles.
It’s after “Launch” so they no longer have a choice or after “Lunch” since they are going to the Mess Hall first?
I think it’s the first but just making sure. 😀
Lunch is probably served after Launch in any case.
