Sometimes the truth doesn’t have enough truthiness.

Having moved Jo’s boxes in, Jo said to Picknar, Thoos, and Rodrigo, “thanks for helping me move all that in. So, what’re you three up to?” Picknar in Val’s body said, “just some errands.” Jo gestured to her chest and said, “come on, we’re such best friends that you just had me move in. You have to give me more than that. Let’s not start this all off on the wrong foot.” Joe began getting worked up, and continued, shouting, “I mean, the point of me moving in was to keep me from killing myself! And ditching trust like it was a handsy stranger at a carnival is not the way.” Picknar said, “really? If she ditches you, you’ll kill yourself?” Distracted by the question, Jo said, “well, I mean, that’s the plan. And what do you mean ‘she.'” Picknar explained, “okay. I’ll tell you. I’m actually Picknar, an alien from Tithoron. Victim of a scientific experiment gone wrong. Now I’m in Valerie’s body. And the best I can guess is that she’s on Tithoron in my body.” Jo thumbed in the direction of Thoos and Rodrigo and said in an aside to Picknar, “so these two clowns are, like, cult members? and they’re brainwashing or drugging you?” Picknar replied indignantly, “what? No. I haven’t been drugged.” Jo said, “oh well. I was going to ask if I could have some samples. My stash of weird ones is getting low.”

“Okay. Let’s get Val back.”
“You believe us? Just like that?”
“Do YOU want to pay the mortgage? I don’t!”
The mirror seams heavy-handed.
Unless it is a hint to Jo instead of your readers?
This comment ain’t none too serious.
Been readin’ fuh years.
Thank you for all you wonderful work!
“Handsy stranger at a carnival”? Where do you get this stuff?
Christopher has been to a few carnivals, most likely…
I don’t want to get drawn into Jo’s backstory. I don’t, I don’t, I don’t, I don’t! Yet I can sense it coming. WAITER! Double-strength absinthe, s’il vous plait.
Jo’s got a lot of teeth. I think she may be related to Dusty.
I love it when people just communicate in fiction instead of being intentionally vague just to create conflict so that the plot could happen.
In The Watchmen, one of the vigilantes beat the hell out of a bunch of bad guys. People were still saying it looked fake because it was nothing like a kung-fu movie… even though she was surrounded by 20 guys she absolutely knocked out.
Note: I mean the graphic novel, not the movie (which was disowned by Alan Moore.)
“an alien from” does not sound like something she would say.
More like “a being from” or “a person from”.
She is an individual…
