Jo cam walking in Val’s front door, arms, akimbo, and said, “hey, Val. Guess what?” Picknar, in Val’s body, looked at her, unsure, and said, “um. I… uh… did we leave the door unlocked?” Smiling, Jo said, “a good guess, and yes you did. But I’ve decided to take you up on your offer for me to move in.” Picknar said, “oh. um. That’s great.” Looking at Thoos and Rodrigo, Jo asked, “who are these two?” Picknar said, “oh, new friends. This is Thoos and Rodrigo. They… it’s a long story.” Jo shakes Rodrigo’s hand and said, “I’m Jo. Val’s best friend. If you want to be her best friend, you’ll have to wait for me to kick it.” Picknar said, “anyhow. We were about to head out.” Holding her hands up, Jo said, “oh, not so fast. My car is full of boxes of my stuff to move in. You’re not going to ditch me, are you? Between the four of us, we can have it done in no time.” Picknar turns to Thoos and Rodrigo and said, “you two okay with that?” Thoos and Rodrigo say simultaneously, “physical labor?” Unimpressed, Jo said, “your new friends are pretty useless.” Picknar said, “so far, I can’t argue with that.”
