As a teenager, not knowing how on earth I was going to make it in the big world which seemed so inexplicable to me, I often looked at the underside of bridges and other places I thought I could maybe live. Truly.

At the hot springs, we can see Knox and Rodrigo relaxing in the hot pool above the one Audri and Val are realizing in. Audri says to Val, “these days, Val, I look at bridges, and wonder if one could live under them.” Val replies with, “don’t knock living under bridge, Audri. There’s a line of amazing trolls who you could follow in the footsteps of.” Knox turns to Rodrigo and snidely says, “some people just don’t know when it’s time to rent a room and get the foreplay over with.” Still relaxing and trying to ignore him, Rodrigo replies, “shush. Maybe they can hear you.” Then Audri days to Val, “have you ever noticed the bridge over on National Ave, how it looks all cozy under-” But she is interrupted by a loud “Fratzzz!” noise, which renders Audri and Val unconscious, as they zonk backwards. Rodrigo stands up, concerned, and says, “they both just fell unconscious.” Grinning, Knox says, “see? they have so much in common.”

I lived under a bridge for a week, found a nice one with level spaces between the girders and not too heavily trafficked. Then I got my paycheck and found a room.
Perfect, if the girders are hammock spaced.
Saw an amazing story last year. A new type of lightweight overpass design, after about two years of use, was reported by several drivers as having concerning amounts of smoke billowing out from it.
Fearing a major electrical fire from the power feed to the lights under that lit the road below, several technicians entered into the MOSTLY hollow spaces inside the bridge to figure it out only to find their “hidden” maintenance hatch into the inside had been found & crowbared open over a year earlier.
A homeless couple had done WONDERS turning it into a very cozy home! He was so handy that I have no idea why he couldn’t find a job as a craftsman. Drugs, probably. He’d tapped into the lighting system power very professionally, & everything was salvaged from dumps, garage sales, collage students dumping their cheap but still in good condition furniture during a move, all the basic comforts.
He’d also built a kitchen but hadn’t considered where the smoke from their cooking was going!
A friend lived in his clunker van in a paid parkade with power across from a 24 hour gym he was a member at. 415 a month… He loved it.
.
“Why did you say we could follow in the footsteps of trolls?! Now we’re literally in their footsteps!”
“To be honest, we look more like the billy goats.”
I recognize that FRATZZZ!
Maybe a side effect of Dr Loomps experiment.
Good catch. It is the same sound effect.
I’ll give you this much: living under a bridge wouldn’t be *that* much worse than that old house you were trying to fix up.
@PastorDan, hahahaha! So true. Which is part of why I was able to make it work while making the place livable. (it is livable now, only we’re separated)
Wait – you and your partner did a home reno together? That explains the separation.
Woah, buddy… gettin’ a little personal there, ain’t ya? No offense but… dang o’ dang man.
I wonder who’m is doing the Fratzzzing
this is why hot springs can’t be trusted, you might catch an alien consciousness.
Looks more like an alien unconsciousness.
