Growing up can be confusing.

Having returned, Professor Festus Loomp led Picknar and Thoos down a hallway to a lab. Loomp had them get onto two cushioned cylindrical-shaped devices, shaped so that a Tith could straddle it in comfort. Loomp locked cuffs around their four ankles and two wrists, and then placed on their heads helmets linked by wires to a wall-mounted piece of lab equipment. Once they were securely bound and helmeted, Loomp went over the main console to begin preparations. Thoos looked over at Picknar and said, “this somehow reminds me of something from my childhood, but I can’t quite place what.” Picknar replied, “to me, that sounds like a dark memory best left forgotten.” Thoos then remembered, “Oh right, my parents told me that some guests sleep better when restrained.” Picknar replied, “I rest my case.”

So what manner of guests did thoos’ parents have, he wondered quietly.
Depends on what sort of establishment Thoos’ parents had.
Heh… I can still dislocate my thumb because step-father loved showing off my “trick” for getting out of handcuffs.
That reminds me of a dark childhood memory of mine that’s best left forgotten. Thanks a lot, Chris.
“Times like this, I wish I had listened to what my father said.”
“Why, what did he say?””
“I don’t know, I didn’t listen.”
“Guests,” huh? That what your parents called them? I wonder what the cops called them on the complaint.
I’m reminded that childhoods become the practice fields for adulthood. And some parents sincerely can’t care what their kids learn. Only the necessity of compulsion.
Those restraints do not look comfy, and they don’t even have a safeword agreed!
