Choan forgets they have a Diller.
That name now always reminds me of a certain danish children’s show.
Huh. I keep thinking her first name is Phyllis.
@Efogoto – That’s the first reference I thought of when the character was introduced, too.
You beat me to it.
The problem isn’t a helper feeling helpless. The problem is when somebody else, maybe not a helper but just somebody in the right place at the right time with the right tools and information, fixes the problem the helper cannot. There is a step below being helpless, and that is feeling useless. Worse, redundant. What do they need YOU for, after all? Not a good place to be. Choan stands where a lot of people have stood and she, too, will have to find her own way out of it. Without feeling the whole effort is pointless. But that’s a different, if related problem.
I broke my Choan once. It was painful.
I’m thinking Chaons plan is to invoke the Diller luck factor by slyly playing the “No idea” card.
