“You were accidentally hurting us!”
“Who said that?”
“Us! The mice!”
“Oh! You can talk?”
“Yes! How can you live with yourself now, you monster?!”
“Easy. I was hurting you on purpose.”

This kind of verifies one of my theories. Most of the species in the Galaxy are in fact not sentient. The translator tech causes non sentient creatures to appear sentient.
Fairly clear that Ruddock is in fact not sentient. He has many fine qualities, but intelligence is not one of them. My sympathies go out to King.

If you view “gullible” is identical to “non-sapient” you’re on the path to furryite sandwiches. Delicious, delicious furryite sandwiches.

Point is that without the translator, telling the difference between sapient and non-sapient can be difficult. Really difficult.
Bonker of Things
If your meter of sapience has “gullible” as threshold, then, at minimum, 50% of the human population is non-sapient. I do agree with you that it is very difficult to tell the difference, but I think so even for people I share language with; I wanted to use social media but I got such migrane from all idiocy that I couldn’t even stand it long enough to make an account.

Sorry, but in nature “gullible” translates to “lunch.” Species like Angler Fish have evolved to take advantage of this.
I can’t tell if Leb and Pally are speechless with awe in the presence of their creator or fear in the presence of that beast-who-eats-our-kind. It’s a toss up.
Night-Gaunt
We saw before that Ruddock accidentally activated his LASER weapon when he sneezed. I wonder how he is to do so otherwise. The normal way that is.

Just a note in passing: Should Ruddock trigger his laser and NOT cause Aitana to bounce two hundred meters out of range, that will prove she isn’t wearing even part of her armor on this trip. Word to the wise, and all that.

Yeah, this scene acquires a distinctly creepy quality when you wonder what the two mice must be thinking.

I love that changing the setting isn’t even an issue now since the Strib ship’s medibot already inoculated Ruddock for his Strib allergy.

Coyoty you are killing me!
I wonder what Ruddock scans as on the Aproxyscan?
I love the beat panel in this one. “Stun.” Love it.
That coyote is now my favorite character of the internet.
They weren’t before???

True. It’s nothing to sneeze at.
