I don’t know why I delight in Zakzar, Khaba, and Diller so much. But I do, and I’m loving writing this.

If you ever do a spinoff strip, I’d take one starring these three for sure. Perhaps my all-time favorite of your Spacetrawler characters.
So, the Annin were an amoral Duchy of Grand Fenwick.
Would love a spin-off/bonus book about these gals!
So they were simultaneously cruel, ambitious, and naïvely innocent?
Or, at least, they seemed that way… And it is possible, cruelty can be born of ignorance just as easily as from malice.
Betting these guys are the cute dog-aliens or their predecessors somehow.
@Someone, I adjusted the text. It was “a belief that the annin’s naive innocence didn’t need to be taken seriously.” Hope this is clearer!
Love the OCD closing statement.
you just can’t let your hyper-vigilant manic paranoia guard down.

The Old Guys on the Bench are a favorite writing method for feeding exposition, humor, and perspective of distance and history into any story.
Yeah, I relate more to the Old Gals at the Table with wineglasses in their hands.
This war has come up before as a profane expression. It had to be pretty memorable to make its mark on Galactic language.
I must say, Christopher, I too am dazzled by the prospect of the stories Khaba, Zakzar and Diller have to share on the conflict and their role in it. But that takes me to the question of how the Annins came to make war on the Galaxy, innocence or no. Which merely catapults me into the question of how the three of them got together, and whether it was before this. All manner of stories are here untold, though juicily suggested. I humbly await any crumb of the telling of any of them; it will make my next week more interesting.
Popcorn fresh, ditto bitter lemonade. Roll film!
Your protagonist of choice tends to be a clever ingenue assessing experience for its quotient of reality. You might be enjoying writing characters for whom most things aren’t question marks.
And BOOM! You have “9 Chickweed Lane.” Been there, met Thorax.
I might! 🙂
