It is a bitter but perhaps important life lesson that some people cannot be redeemed. Or aren’t worth it. Or both.
Oh, and the ability to judge family objectively, on the same spectrum as anyone else…

We’re trying to get them to be better than crooks, not worse.
I would say the ‘rents have gotten their last Second Chance from me. Even if they are redeemable, someone else can try putting in that effort with them.
At this point I would tell Delly and Prang here to put their right arms up pointing at the ceiling, and to wrap their left arm around them. Then they stick their left leg out straight, and wrap their right leg around that.
Then you drop them out the airlock toward any nearby planetary surface.
It won’t help their demeanor any, but it WILL make it easier for the rescue squad to screw them out of the ground. I’m just sayin’.
What a pair of tools her parents are. Nice to see Stangor managed to get some redeeming qualities from that family. I like Pete Rogan’s suggestion best.
Their point-of-view leaves little for sentiment and parental love. All cash on the line doing a job they find interesting.
Best to look at them as damaged goods and set them on some planet or another ship. They are not worth spending another microsecond on.
And they are boring so very boring and single minded too.
