That’s gonna be the running joke with Chiphu, isn’t it? He’s either gonna strike out or refuse to swing with every female he encounters. He’s practically the anti-Dimitri. At this rate even Ruddock is gonna be more likely to actually hook up than he is.
Yeah, but he’s not looking for a girlfoe. Kidnapping and attempted murder are kind of turnoffs.
Poor Stangor, came upon the one non-xenophile around.
Stangor has clearly heard of Dmitri, and assumes he is the average human male “third base encounter”-wise.
Chiphu’s warning, and its easy-to-accept deflection, are timely and alarming. So far as I can recall, the “I.A. Starbanger” is not armed in any way. Confronting the Puppy-people is likely to result in a lethal response from them, followed by some degree of mopup. As Chiphu has seen and Tesfay has experienced personally, the Puppy-people deal with suspected threats without mercy or hesitation. Given the lack of Galactic knowledge about them, their tactics in eliminating opponents are quite successful. Or other people would know about them.
So what is Stangor planning to do? Show up? Bluster? Threaten? The Puppy-people crush houses of the innocent on landing; what makes her think they will even bother to pause to listen? I think the real question needing an answer is what will Stangor and her crew of Earthlings do when she draws their attention? The Puppy-people have the larger ship but it’s not necessarily slower. If they have weaponry they’re not going to hesitate using it.
Stangor’s admitted insanity can get them all killed. Who cares who Chiphu will be dating next? Unless it’s one of the— No, I said I would not venture there, and I won’t. But Stangor’s lack of any idea how to deal with the Puppy-people upon finding them appalls me, and makes me reach for weapons. It’s not original to say it, but I have a bad feeling about this.
So what is Stangor planning to do? Show up? Bluster? Threaten?
C’mon! Stangor is a criminal, too! They speak the same language, if not the same dialect.
