Coyotes have running parties all the time. With howling. They can expect to do a lot of howling if they’re caught. Lots of fun.
Sure they’re not in Detroit?
I’m sure. Running targets always catch the eye. Emily’s advice would work. I’ve followed it for years without incident.
If you’re running, it’s presumed it’s from a deal gone bad, and you have money/drugs/weapons on you that you are not paying close attention to at the moment. A trip, a knock into a streetlamp, a thump on the head, and you’re plucked. Ten seconds is all it takes.
I think everybody could be friends with Ruddock and most of us would welcome such a coyote in our lives!
Sometimes you run to keep your intestines as IN-testines, sometimes you run to make someone elses intestines out-testines, and sometimes your intestines run. If I were they, I’d trust the coyote. He knows what’s what.
Box-bot having a hard time keeping its lid on right now. “Wowzers, all these guns are just raring to go! I wonder what Emily’s gotten herself into?!”
Why do I keep thinking of broccoli when I see these new aliens?
Christopher, I think we know that ~you are speaking what comes out of Ruddock… I mean that nicely, of course! (And not in the way you speak for the other characters… lol)
Okay, hair on back of neck went up again.
The cabbie’s advice I treat as immediately suspect. Like I told Warpig, a moving target attracts the eye. Running through or into a region of unknown danger is going to make you visible to the muggers, etc., waiting within.
The only place I know the cabbie’s advice to work is, again, a place like Beirut or Sadr City or Fallujah, where people are sorting out targets for telltale signs of them being On The Wrong Side, and moving quickly may take you out of eyesight before they can sight a weapon. But it didn’t help the Blackwater Security operatives in Fallujah who took a wrong turn and took a carload of lead.
If you have to run, it’s because danger is imminent (read: tracers incoming, or an RPG smoketrail) and there may be refuge, or something to put between you and the guns in relatively easy reach. But it’s a crapshoot in the best of circumstances.
Far easier for me to believe the cabbie wants the newcomers to identify themselves positively to the gang members from whom he has already said he gets a percentage of the take. Danger, danger, Emily Taylor!
