Gurf is too dim to command a single ship so they made him an admiral of ALL the ships.
You’d be surprised how often you find this psychotic judgment works in action. And now I have to go lie down again until I can remind myself that competency still counts in this world without breaking into sobs.

@Peter Rogan: Isn’t that what Americans call “The Peter Principle” — people rise to their level of incompetence. Things still work because not everyone has risen that far; so they are still competently doing their current jobs.
Quick question for discussion: Is a puceberry tart like a cranberry? Sweet like an apple or a grape? The first part of the name == puce == sounds to me like something that makes your lips purse up like something very, very sour. But maybe not?
Puce is a color, too. It’s sort of a muted purple-brown shade. Probably sweet like gooseberry juice.
