You got that right. Finding a trustworthy babysitter who will do no harm to the kids and who is fun and the kids really like is like finding a 10 carat pigeon blood ruby under a rock in the garden.

Add to that the ability to defend them from armed intruders, and you’ve got a winner.

I love Devyat’s expression. She knows how dangerous what she has to say is, but needs to say it anyway.
It immediately brought to mind what Darwin wrote to Hooker … “I am almost convinced (quite contrary to opinion I started with) that species are not (it is like confessing a murder) immutable.” I feel sure she would understand.

“I swear, it would take a fully telekinetic eeb to handle this kid…”
“Where would we find one of those?”

Ya damn right we are. Put them powers to good use, I say.

Why do I have the dread sensation of ‘famous last words’ here? If anything could take the G.O.B. down, it would be the knowledge that they had and used an unclamped Eeb against their enemies. Once you have used every means an enemy would use against you to destroy them, you are no longer morally distinct from the enemies you exterminate.
And that would give every potential troublemaker in the Galaxy mad lust to possess that one Eeb and use her. Isolation won’t save her — disappearing won’t save her. At that point she’ll need an extra-Galactic solution. One actually larger than the Galaxy. I think I need to go lie down now for a bit.

I need a babysitter. Can Devyat babysit my kids?
Levana
Also, yknow, those Eebs wanted everyone dead. Can’t forget that part.
