Last strip’s discussion was so fascinating, I just HAD to fiddle around with the ideas you all brought up. Thank you!
And I hope you have a good memorial day. Thank you to those who have served.
If you’re wondering why today’s strip looks weird (including Martina lacking her red eye), it’s because the washes aren’t scanned in. Unfortunately, my Mustek A3 scanner died. I have a little scanner which I can scan b&w with, so you will not be without the strip the next few weeks. But I can’t scan in the washes correctly until I buy a new one. I should be getting paid for a freelance job in the next few weeks and will order it then and add the washes in once it arrives. A scanner has been ordered by a reader, Erik! I should have it by the end of this week (or early next week). Thank you, Erik!
Also, I have news. Great news! Penguin/Dial books will be publishing my comic strip “Little Dee” as a 120 page full graphic novel! I’ll be writing, drawing, and coloring it, and it’s due out in about a year or so. I’m very excited about this, what fun!
Whoa, did Dustin just talk sense into someone?
Also, it would seem that Yuri has punched the red out of Martina’s robo-eye in that last strip.
Graphic novel Dee? Woot!
For some reason I’m craving a burger.
No red eye for Martina?
Great expression in panel #10. 🙂
Sorry Martina, I’m not buying it. Yuri’s telekinesis was only a weapon in the same sense that Emily’s hands and feet are weapons. You “disarmed” Yuri not in the sense of removing firearms, but in the sense of cutting off arms.
Hands and arms can’t reach into people’s bodies and pinch or cut vital blood vessels, unless weapons are already in play (including martial arts techniques or really sharp fingernails).
Also, asking here as well just because I can’t stop thinking about it, but is that a retelling of Little Dee or an actual… *gasp*… sequel?
There. You did it. You made me like Dustin. I hope you’re happy.
Even if she did just clamp them, they’ve murderedmurdered billions of people. They’re as good as dead anyway.
And I have no idea why “murdered” came out twice above. Stupid mobile browser.
She has no red-eye because my scanner broke. Explained in the blog!
@Evil Midnight Lurker, it will be a standalone graphic novel of new material. It will feature the cast of four (plus some secondaries) during Dee’s time with them. 🙂
Huh? and i thought yuris punch shorted that eye or part of it out.
YAY!! More Pudú!!! Pudú!Pudú!Pudú!Pudú!Pudú!Pudú!Pudú!!!!!
(For those that haven’t read Little Dee, that makes sense in context).
Almost made me forget that Dustin is surprisingly cogent and logical here.
Weren’t those Bollyks in that ship she destroyed?
@Mummpiz, damn! You’re right, my mistake. Will fix it this afternoon!! 🙂
“Durrrrrrr!” indeed. How many of us are going “why the hell didn’t I think of that?”
With their telekinesis disabled, a tiny roly-poly Eeb is about as dangerous as a teddy bear. Martina could just go from one to the next clamping them, possibly with a coffee break in there somewhere.
Clamping Yuri’s brain is as personal as you can get. Just like with the Eebs. I suspect that once Yuri is free of the clamp she will want to murder Martina. She may be the one that does her in.
I wonder if the furryites are affecting Dustin’s unnatural thought process the same way they would an ebb’s supernatural telekenisis.
@Mummpiz, fixed!
Fantastic news about Little Dee! Congratulations!
I’m still trying to figure out the artistic reason you can’t color one of Martina’s pupils red the same way you color Dusty’s collar red. The Photoshop “bucket” or something.
Hi Christopher, I am curious as to what the differences are between the original and published versions of this episode.
Panel 10 ~ Martina’s realization that, not only is She bringing a knife to a gunfight, she just tossed away a bazooka. That and having Dustin, of all people, as the unbiased voice of reason is beautifully poetic.
A note on Furryites: Eating bi-pedal meat is curiously unnerving, even without considering that they are sentient (having perceptive insight) AND sapient (having perceptive insight into one’s self worth).
With all those great projects you’re doing I guess it’s hard enough to keep up continuity …
It was nice to see Dustin has undergone a bit of character development.
And this is a slightly odd thing to mention, but the tiny “I know” inside that big speech balloon was surprisingly expressive.
@TB, I could, of course. But it’s extra work I’ll just have to undo to do it properly in a week when I have a scanner again.
@Jediadept, “the differences are between the original and published versions of this episode.” I’m not sure what original version you mean.
@Mummpizz, ha! No. I still allot the same amount of time for Spacetrawler. New projects just mean I work longer hours. That was simply a brain fart.
I know a pile of people, including me, who would love to see new Little Dee stories. When are you taking pre-orders?
@Mercuryflash, Thanks! And, well, it will be published by Penguin/Dial books. That part will be there territory. Printing, sales, etc. But I will keep you posted from whatever strip I’m posting online at the time. 🙂
Hi Christopher,
A tribute to your work, that I couldn’t wait to read it, even though I was dead tired.
A lesson to me, that if I should I read when dead tired, read it twice, before I comment.
My apologies; I misread your May 23, 2013 at 7:02am comment:
Christopher~ Yeah, I’m fascinated by this discussion, enough that I wrote Monday’s strip around the concept; as “RE-wrote” Monday’s strip.

@Jediadept, ah! Makes sense. Yeah, I was ready to plow on, but I think it was a really interesting discussion to interject there.
oh! you redeemed Dusty more than i thought possible. props to you 🙂
Redemption!
And hooray for Penguin books! I always liked those dudes
You know you’ve hit bottom when Dustin calls you a dick.
