I’m uploading this at the Philadelphia airport. I had such a good time on this trip, but due to the switcheroosies of convention schedules, I am simply exhausted and so happy to be heading home. True, two days later I’ll be heading to San Francisco, but that will be a bit more brief, and I’ll be at least partly refueled by seeing my girlfriend and sleeping in my own bed.
Wow, Gurf is a star figher savant!
That should be “star fighter.” Stupid index finger all calloused from guitar playing.
He’s the perfect man for Emily. He can cook beautiful Puceberry Pancakes, and he can slaughter a wing of fighters.
“They have us surrounded… the poor bastards!”
As Chesty Puller said at the Chosin Reservoir:
“All right, they’re on our left, they’re on our right, they’re in front of us, they’re behind us…they can’t get away this time.”
“Great. Now we can shoot at those bastards from every direction.”
One thing I like about this strip is how everyone’s talents eventually come out. Who knows, maybe even Nogg is good at something…
Only at the last panel did I realized she hadn’t beeped the aproxiscan into hold. I feel stupid now.
Does Emily’s fighter look familiar to anyone else?
It does to me, but I can’t place it.
i’m a little worried, i feel this is all coming to a head pretty soon; WHAT WILL I DO WITH OUT THE STAR BANGER CREW!!!
@ trey- Didn’t Nog just say that the tale is only half told? There is plenty of time for the Eebs to be liberated , take over and disestablish the GOB. Then when diminutive Eeb Red 9 becomes the Emporer of the galaxy another graphic novel can begin most naturally titled of course “Red Dwarf”.
“We aren’t surrounded, we’re in a target-rich environment!”
When you are surrounded they are trying to avoid friendly fire, you are only making unfriendly fire. The harder trick in a space battle is to get the enemy to surround you. So you can “blow them to tiny bits in thy mercy”
hmm. maybe it’s because i’m reading this one panel at a time, but I’m getting pretty muddled when it comes to the plot. How long in real-time have Emily and Gurf been in their little fighter jets? It feels like that was ages ago.
@Kathleen, the trouble is that I’m cycling through Martina/Dimitri/Pierrot/Yuri/Emily, which means that if each only get even two strips apiece, there is still a full month between when you see a character and then see them again. I’m trying to give them each only a max of two strips apiece to keep it moving as quickly as possible, but I do realize with the group so separated that it will likely read better in book form.
