I made a lovely batch of snickerdoodles… well, ALMOST snickerdoodles. The few recipes I found didn’t use cream of tartar and I doubted my sanity that this is the defining ingredient. And was too brain fogged to research more. But later, refreshed by several cinnamon coated sugar cookies who WANTED to be snickerdoodles, I realized I had been right. Boys and girls, don’t believe a snickerdoodle recipe that does not include cream of tartar.

We actually got a few days of summer finally her in the Northeast. In the 80s, hot and humid. Except the evening I dropped off my sweetie’s car at the garage to walk home — at which point the rainstorm hit. Ha! But it was lovely. I like walking in the rain, real rain (as long as it’s warm out), and then I love the showering when home and putting on your evening dry bathrobe. Very comfy.

08/22/14 Complete The Mission

Chalk Fest went…. not at all. It rained all night before and here and there through the day. Ah well. Might be rescheduled September 18th. We’ll see. but all was fine. Inked more “Little Dee” pages, and then my dad and his girlfriend had come out to see the chalk-fest, so instead we walked around art-walk and then had dinner, which was super nice.

Listening to the audiobook of “Confederacy of Dunces,” which I haven’t read for a good long time. What a wonderful novel, so far ahead of its time (1963!). Love it.

08/20/14 Vote The Obvious

My agent, the fabulous Susan Hawk, posted an article over the weekend which is essentially her asking all her authors about revision and feedback and such. My advice is in there, but it pale compared to some of the great things people wrote. Check it out.

Also: Thursday I’ll be doing a huge chalk drawing for Chalk Fest, Glens Falls, NY 2014. Can’t wait (and hope it doesn’t rain)! The theme is Lichtenstein. You may remember the dragon I did last year…

08/01/14 Jetpack

I love the concept of jetpacks, but I know I’m clumsy enough that I’d break my head the first time I tried one. BUT, by the time we’ve invented a jetpack, smart cars that drive themselves will be par for the course and jetpacks will KEEP you from breaking your head. That’s the basis for the physics of this strip and WHY Olivia didn’t break her head.

07/07/14 Queen Of Cool

Spending a couple days in Minneapolis to enjoy the city. It’s the third time I’ve been here for this convention, and it’s the first time I gave myself an extra couple of days to go into the town, museums, etc. Haven’t done that since probably around 15 years ago when I was visiting friends out here.

Convergence-Con was great. Still recovering and cleaning up the mess, will blog more about it when I get  a moment. In the meantime, here’s a picture I took of Hagrid’s Book Of Monsters enjoying Spacetrawler.

For those of you who have been considering supporting my Patreon, especially at the $8 level (where you get a new POSTCARD every month), get in there before the end of the month so as to not miss the first postcard. Catch ’em all, like… um… Pokemon?

As I mentioned, I drew during the local play production (the tech/dress rehearsal) of “Fully Committed” starring Sam Lloyd (from “Scrubs”) through ATF (Adirondack Theater Festival). The pictures are hanging in the lobby for the duration of the show. It’s a fun program called “TOONing In” and here are some of the pics I did. If you’re local come in for any of the four shows! 🙂

Monday was good. Met up with plein air buddies (first time since last summer) and we sat around painting and drawing and drinking tea. What a fun way to work!
