I think something happened since Wednesday. Mostly just drawing and eating I think. Took a slew of reference photos trying to get something to work from on my next painting (the first one isn’t done, but it can be a couple weeks between days i can work on it in order to let it dry).

03/12/14 Hull Report
I wrote all day Monday. Totally uneventful.
03/10/14 Outside Inspection
Saturday was kinda’ lame, a day or errands. But Sunday was nice. Sunny, and my sweetie and I walked to the local art museum (free on the 2nd Sunday of the month), and then to the community theater downtown which was playing “Neverending Story” which I’ve never seen, and so seeing it on the big screen seemed like a good idea. Some coffee in the sun with bread and hummus. One of those super pleasant days.
Staurday wasn’t a total write-off though, I did do some more work this weekend on the painting of my sweetie. Personally, I LOVE in-progress pictures, and so I’m going to keep posting them for those who share the same like.
03/07/14 Lamont’s Recommendation
I went to Writer’s Group tonight. I haven’t had much to submit since I’ve been working on writing the Little Dee graphic novel. Which is going smoothly enough I suppose. A bit of a challenge.
If you haven’t read it, I got nicely listed in an article over at “io9” by the awesome Lauren Davis (mostly forSpacetrawler). A listing of completed Science Fiction projects which are good to sit down and read in one binge. Go read it!
Oh, and here’s a sketch from Tuesday’s model studio class. I was only their for about a half hour, and forgot to bring a pencil, but, that said, I kinda’ like it.
03/03/14 The Future
Had a fun weekend this weekend. Wrote a 10-minute play for the 24 play fest here in Glens Falls. And I was so evil, I gave my cast so many lines to remember in so short a time. But they did great.
02/26/14 Gordon Confesses
Reminds me of some of the BS I used to say to avoid accountability in office jobs. Ah, the good ol’ days.
Had a lovely birthday. Went for a long walk, looked at art books in the library, went to studio drawing, and then my sweetie and I went out to dinner. It’s a strange thing, because on your birthday it’s nice to do what you really love, but for me I do that every day all day (writing, painting, drawing), and so I kinda’ had to step sideways and not let myself do any any work (the studio drawing is more a fun thing).
Anyhow. AT studio drawing, I tried working straight on my digital palette. Not sure I love the results.
Tonight (Tuesday), I’m starting staying up until 5:00am, which is when I need to have the script done Friday-night/Saturday-morning for the “24 hour play fest.” If I don’t condition myself a few days in advance, on Friday I’ll turn into a pumpkin at midnight.

02/21/14 Everything Is Fine
Had writer’s group last night (Thursday), and it reminded me how much I want to dive back into writing. I have only one more “Girl Genius” to draw (the strips I’ve been drawing run through the end of next week over at Girl Genius). I have been loving LOVING LOVING drawing it, but it takes a LOT of time to draw each page, and so all my side projects have been on hold for the last couple months.
So yeah, there are two novels and a graphic novel I’m “working” on writing. Plus the “Little Dee” script (although it’s currently with my editor as I await feedback). Of course it’s always more than that. I’ve been itching to do some oil paintings. I can barely contain it. But the prep work is slow.
I can say this about winter: it’s fecking cold and grey and slushy and miserable and you just don’t want to leave you house which is exacerbated when you don’t actually HAVE to leave your house because you work at home, BUT you get a whole lot of work done.
Oh, and I just finished reading a small hand-bound book of short stories. Somewhat real? somewhat magical-realism? Lots of beautiful imagery. It’s called “Small Fierce Things” by LJ Moore. It has lovely little illustrations throughout, and is touching and curious and strange. It’s even hand-sewn using fishing net that she found washed up on the beaches of Svalbard (yes, the North Pole!) (which is how I heard of her, through my friendCedra who went on the same trip up north). There’s a sample story from the book you can read here, and you can purchase it here.
02/12/14 Like An Ape
Another normal Monday and Tuesday for me. Drew a lot. Model Studio drawing is back on, so I did that (haven’t scanned them in yet though). I made potato soup. We made caramel corn. We went and saw “Monuments Men” which was entertaining, and I’m glad it’s out there to bring light to an interesting part of history, but it was a wee bit flat. I wouldn’t mind seeing the no-doubt-very-long cut if it exists.
As mentioned, throughout January and February, check out the fill-in art I’m doing for Phil and Kaja over at Girl Genius!
So, Marvel Comics is repackaging Ms. Marvel, and old superhero, to be shape-shifting 16 year-old Muslim girl. There’s a drawing group I’m part of, and so we all did a crack at it (one of the wash drawings I mentioned). Mine’s below, but here’s a link to all of them.
02/05/14 Career Choices
Went to model drawing class, only to find it starts next week! Argh.
Ah well. Ran errands while out — Post office, drug store, office supply store. Drew another Girl genius page. Ate some homemade banana bread (yum!). Called my mom to wish her a belated birthday. Another day-in-the-life.

02/03/14 Brooding
So, I finally took “One Way” down from spacetrawler.com, and that site is now exclusively designated for the Spacetrawler archive. That will simplify things for me (double uploading) quite a bit. Yay!
Played me some racquetball. Got my taxes half done. Finally obtained the missing high res files of my old strip “Bruno” and fixed January’s strips over at brunostrip.com. Submitted some writing samples to a local theatrical event. Bought drawing paper. Dreamed of oil paint. Good times.
