04/14/14 What’s Up

Had a nice weekend. Read some of my poetry at a poetry reading at a friend’s house on Saturday. Saw some classical piano on Sunday. Enjoyed the warm spring sun.

Still trying to figure out why the heck my wordpress theme is not picking up on permalinks. The “next” and “previous” links only work from the home page, but they go along a different route than the actual archive pages (which are listed on the left). I added the BIG double-arrow navigators to the outside of the page, which work from the actual archive pages, so you can use those. The slowness is that I’m having to ask various people for help (it is beyond my knowledge) and although the people helping are absolute saints, it takes time to respond etc. But, hopefully up soon! (if curious, watch the exciting discussion here)

Ah, busy busy. I joined a second wrier’s group, which met for the first time on Monday. Good people. I’m gonna’ like that. Tuesday night the local library showed Joss Weedon’s “Much Ado About Nothing” which I hadn’t seen yet, and so my sweetie and I went (and for all the lousy reviews I read, I thought it was a delightful time).

The website is pretty much revamped. I might tweak here and there. There might be a tad less functionality to the archive, but not much. Simply said, the last theme I was using got over advanced/complicated, which simply confuses things and was becoming a hassle to keep up with.

Oh, and I went to studio drawing again on Tuesday, although I could only stay an hour. but I got a couple nice doodles in, in very different styles too. 🙂 — (the un-fig-leafed version is here)

Had a full weekend. Started a new painting.

have been swatting over the “theme” of the website. You’ll find the entire archive is available, but I don’t have links (or decent navigation) or the design up yet. But will try to have that done today (Monday)!

Editing editing editing. Finished up a new graphic novel (details to be released later, but the artist is not me), a new version of the Little Dee graphic novel (still in the scripting phase), one of my regular-ol’ novel-novels (writer’s group Thursday nights). If it weren’t for all the comicking and watercoloring and oil painting I also do, I might think I’d become a writer more than a cartoonist. ;-)

Oh, and hey, I’m going to try to overhaul the website this weekend, aiming for SUNDAY, so the page may be down for a bit somewhere/when then.

Have a great weekend!

03/31/14 Walking Outside

Had a nice weekend. Made more muffins. Hung out with my sweetie and two friends, and we walked through Saratoga Springs up to the Tang Museum at Skidmore College. I was excited to see the Ben Katchor originals, but they were only prints. :(

Did a couple of watercolors in a cafe this weekend. One of a lighthouse in Ireland (I think it was somewhere north of Dublin), and the other from a road trip I took (YEARS ago) with my sister in Alaska.

03/26/14 Orion’s Dream

This strip was actually (loosely) based on a dream I had. It put me in a very off-kilter mood for the day.

Tuesday is severely-reduced-price tickets every week at the Saratoga theaters, and The Grand Budapest Hotel finally came to town. What a delight! :)

Phew! I got back in the studio drawing. It’s been 3 weeks. Too long (none on spring break, and then missed last week because working on deadlines). Below is the “safe for work” version. For the NSFW version, click here.

03/24/14 Final Words

Ah, seeing the the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra was nice. And it totally got my brain cells working too, which I love. I often come out of classical music with one or two new really good ideas. In fact, I wonder these days if I even enjoy the music as much any more, or if I just go to get ideas. Either way, it was great timing, as I’m working madly on two graphic novel scripts.

Saturday night I held my own playing “Sheep’s Head,” but Charlotte was the clear winner of the night. Next time. NEXXXT TIIMMMEEE! :)

Other than that, I’ve just been kicking around with my sweetie.
