We spent the morning thrift-store browsing and a diverting drive and soft-serve. I am ready to now draw late into the night with a smile on my face.

That has been my experience with depression lately. So glad the unending despair of high school and college is over :V
I was disappointed that being around adults wasn’t much different than being around children and then young adults as I grew up. I need that bit of darkness to give me a sharp edge to my work. Just don’t fall down the abyss you peer into. Its looking back…or is that merely a reflection?
Sorry to hear you’ve been suffering, it glad you can recognize it for what it is-that way, it’s far less likely to take hold for a longer visit, and you know the low thoughts are coming from the depression, rather than thinking they’re true. But it still sucks having to go through it. Hope you feel better soon (FWIW, I think you’re doing exactly the right thing, keeping the hikes etc going)
