Back to Baldwin Home Page Back to Bruno Page Last updated September 2003 So much will need to be added to this. But let's just start, just so there's something here like a marker. I was born in Montague, massachusetts in 1973 and grew up in Greenfield Massachusetts. I attended greenfield public schools except for one dismal year at a small private school which i will not be so mean as to mention their name. By the end of high school (1991) I had drawn over 30 comic books, none of which were of any quality to be published, but were fun to do. I had done a few freelance jobs, and had a picture of mine put in the back of "Rapheal, microseries 2nd print" by Eastman and Laird (not worth finding, trust me). Took a year off after high-school and worked at a supermarket for a bit, which quickly inspired me to go to college. College I started as an undeclared, moved to be an art major (simply to make it easier to get into art classes). The most i got out of college was one semester where i did figure drawing 2-3 times a day and nothing else, and a job I had on campus doing posters for an art and performance gallery. i dropped out after 2 years (by choice, my grades were fine). |

I then, in the autumn of 1994, worked a year doing telephone surveys, and then moved back home and spent half a year writing a novel. the novel reached a height of being at the best of my ability, but I recognized it as still not good enough, and so went into self-teaching myself more how to write (it has been worked on, but I haven't put in the proper time since to finish it, though I feel i now have the skill). Began working for a corporation doing health pamphlets in 1997, where i worked for 2 years, learning a lot, until i was too bored and fed up with the beaurocratic crap, and so packed my bags in 1999 and drove to Portland.
I actually took 6 months to drive to portland and stayed with bruno readers, and tried to use this trip as research for the comic. Not really knowing what i was doing, i didn't do a very good job of using it as reference, although it did help, and Bruno did drive cross country around that approximate time. But I would use this as a learning experience, for when I traveled to Europe a little over a year later in spring of 2001 for three months, I took very adequate source pictures and that series has been much more successful. |

![]() | I have no car and live in a crappy apartment with no receptionon my television (just a vcr for movies). I use a 56k telephone modem to do all my work, which I do on a outdated G3 with a Umax scanner (which is great except that the glass is slowly getting more and more scratched and the glass is recessed). I am as of yet unmarried. I work crappy temp jobs to handle the bills. But I am fairly happy. I mean, I do suffer depression and it hits from time to time, but that is more chemical, or wanderingly philosophical, but my ACTUAL life is actually rather pleasant. Just have to keep the balance. |

My goals are to clear my debt and move to Europe, living in a different place every few months. To see the world. it's definately a long-term plan, but I love traveling and hope to do much much more of it. And of course, for all you readers (and, hell, for my pleasure too), i plan to bring Bruno along.
